Midnight Screaming is a quarterly publication with new issues in January, April, July, and October. We want your fiction—short stories, flash, and poetry! Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, Midnight Screaming will no longer be open to submissions year round.

Midnight Screaming happens when you get a great new idea for a story, you sit down to write and type a few words. You think for a bit, type a few words, think for a bit, and then suddenly it's midnight and you only have a paragraph or, when the next issue needs to be printed tomorrow, but you're still trying to format it at midnight. It is the same sort of feeling you get when the laptop you thought you loved crashes and all of your files are lost in the black hole of digital evil.
What types of submissions are we looking for?
While we love all fiction, we have made the decision to narrow the scope of our publication. Midnight Screaming is currently looking for poetry, flash, and short fiction that is strange and unusual. We like odd, creepy, terrifying, and stories that are hard to categorize. The editor is especially fond of stories with a bit of humor, sarcasm, or satire.
While we will publish horror, we're not impressed with horror which includes graphic violence and blood and guts for shock value. We are not interested in erotica.
